Aims and Objectives of the Organisation

  • To establish and maintain communications between the airline public relations practitioners for the purpose of exchanging information of mutual interest.
  • To promote the Airline Public Relations Organisation (APRO) as a recognised body of significant importance within the air travel and air cargo industry.
  • To be a central point of access for the media through its directory and to help build relationships between the membership and the media.
  • To arrange educational and social events for its members.

Definition of Company Organisation

Company membership is open to:

  • Airlines operating revenue scheduled services according to a published timetable into or within the UK or airlines operating revenue schedule services abroad but licensed in the UK.
  • Revenue scheduled service is where a minimum of fifty percent of the capacity or seventy seats - whichever is greater - is available for sale direct to the public without the intervention of a travel operator.
  • Sizeable charter airlines with no fewer than one hundred employees.
  • In case of doubt, the committee has the final decision and reserves the right to accept or refuse application for membership.
  • The member nominated to represent the airline must be a full-time employee of that company.
  • PR Consultants representing the airline fulfilling conditions above, may represent the airline at APRO meetings and events by providing a letter renewed each year, signed by a responsible member of the represented airline, stating the consultant is contracted to them.
  • Affiliate membership is offered by invitation of the committee to other related organisations working in the UK, whose primary function includes airport management, aviation policy or the general advancement of the aviation industry.
  • Associate membership is offered by invitation of the committee to individuals who are deemed to have contributed to the promotion of the objectives of the organisation.
  • Honorary membership is granted by the committee to individuals who are deemed to have made a significant personal contribution to the organisation over a number of years.
